James Banks FCA - Managing Partner

James spent some 19 years at a progressive accountancy practice servicing the South East. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1998, becoming a client partner there in 2006.

During that time the practice went from being a regional firm to a national practice - and then back again, so he comes from a background of delivering the personal service that you would expect from a smaller firm, but range of services you would expect from a mid-tier firm.

James combines commerciality with technical ability and a particularly ‘hands-on’ approach. As well as putting this to good use for his corporate clients, he also developed certain specialist areas.

James has two children and following a move to Devon for family reasons, he set up Spire at the start of 2012 with the aim of creating an accountancy practice that the people behind businesses could really relate to. Spire joined forces with a like minded practice, Hammett Associates, towards the end of 2014 to form Hammett Spire.
